M3 Project Zero: I'm the Test Subject

M3 starts with a fairly simple premise:

I am not a fitness influencer.

I'm a 52-year-old programmer, lifelong nerd, and somebody who has spent most of his life regarding gyms with approximately the same enthusiasm I reserve for root canals.

I started this experiment at roughly 233 pounds.

The objective isn't to lose as much weight as possible, as fast as possible. It isn't to live on shakes, become a gym bro, or discover the one weird trick that doctors supposedly don't want me to know.

The objective is much harder:

Figure out what actually works well enough that I can keep doing it.

M3 is supposed to eventually be built around three broad areas:

Move. Fuel. Mind.

But before I build a system telling anybody else what to do, I'm using myself as Project Zero.

That means tracking the boring stuff.

Weight.

Waist.

What I eat.

How much I move.

What works.

What doesn't.

What sounded brilliant for three days and then became completely unsustainable.

And, importantly, what happens when real life screws up the plan.

I'm not particularly interested in motivational mythology. I want evidence, repeatability and results.

If I can't make something work in the life of an overweight, middle-aged programmer who doesn't particularly enjoy traditional exercise, it's probably not ready to become part of M3.

So that's the experiment.

Starting weight: approximately 233 pounds.

Current direction:

Down.

Let's see where this goes.
